PM Expert has successfully held the workshop on large-scale projects management in London
In late February, PM Expert, a member of ARMADA Group (MICEX-RTS: ARMD), together with a leading international consulting and construction company MACE Group, held another project management workshop in London.
The seminar “The implementation of unique projects in the UK and Russia" continued the series of PM Expert international workshops, started in 2009. The event participants - representatives of TNK-BP Management, ROSPAN International, Severstal, Sberbank and others, as well as participants from the public sector - were able to join to the best international experience of unique projects management and to learn the methods of effective management of large-scale programs.
The first day of the workshop was opened by Nigel Cole, Mace Limited Director, who shared the experience of the management of Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 construction project. The event participants had a unique opportunity not only to get acquainted with the theory of the technology applied in the management of such a large project, but also to explore the experience of the Terminal 5 construction and operation on-site.
The first day was continued by the story about the features of program and project management in the construction of Hinkley Point and Sizewell nuclear power plant reactors.
The second day of the workshop was devoted to large-scale construction projects and modernization of transport infrastructure in London. Speakers from Mace told about the realized projects for the construction of the London Metro cooling system and the reconstruction of the Birmingham New Street London Underground subway station. The participants had the opportunity to learn on-site the management experience of a cableway over the Thames - Emirates Air Line construction. Matt Randall, The Emirates Air Line Project Director, described the peculiarities of his operations with teams of engineers and designers at the stages of facility development, planning and construction, as well as the technologies of project management, which allowed to close the project successfully in terms of time constraints caused by the preparation for summer Olympic games in London in 2012.
During the third day of the workshop, the participants were able to acquire the Russian experience in managing large projects and programs. CEO of PM Expert Alexander Kutuzov spoke about the evolution of project management in Russia, the ways of its further development, and about the formation of the PMC-companies (Project Management Contractor) market.
Deputy CEO of PM Expert Dmitry Maev continued the program making the presentation dedicated to earned value method implementation and to practical recommendations for the use of this technology in projects implementation. The report of another PM Expert representative Anton Vorobyev described the modern approaches to project management in the oil and gas industry.
The theme of program management was continued by the First Deputy of the CEO of PM Expert Alexander Pavlov, who presented the report "The new PMI® Standard for Program Management practical usage in Russia”.
